Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park and canopy walk.
On the day 1 of the 2 days Karamba and Igishigishigi trail hike, in the morning, you will be picked up by the driver from your hotel in Kigali and drive southwards to Nyungwe Forest National Park. You will have a stopover in Butare, where you will visit the National Museum of Rwanda, and the king’s palace in Nyanza with lunch en route. After lunch, you will go on a walking trail that will take you to the Canopy Walk swing bridge 50 meters in length that is suspended from large trees. You will be able to see the amazing rainforest with a bird’s eye view, spotting wildlife moving about below you there after connecting to your accommodation to spend the evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight at Gisakura Visitor Centre/ Nyungwe Top Hill View Hotel
Day 2: Hiking the Karamba birding trail for birding and departure
After an early morning breakfast at your hotel, you will make your way to the park to participate in the karamba birding trail hike. The trail will lead you to exceptional views in the park and also lead you to a number of bird species like the Pockefellers’s sun bird, Chapin’s flycatcher, Rwenzori Batis, strange weaver, red-throated alethe the blue turaco, Ross’s turaco, coqui Francolin, long tailed cisticola, bubbling cisticola, Miombo wren warbler, Chubb’s cisticola among other the bird species. After the safari experience, you will head back to the starting point where yu will be dropped off at a location of your choice in Kigali city which will mark the end of your 2 days Karamba and Igishigishigi trail hike experience.
