Day 1: Transfer to Kibumba tented camp
On day 1 of the 5 days Virunga and gorilla trekking in uganda safari, you will meet your guide at your agreed location in Kigali and drive to cross to Goma and check-in with the tourism office strategically located at the Grand Barrier border Post to receive Gorilla and Volcano permit that’s to be presented at the beginning of every trek before the closing time. Thereafter you will be transferred to the Kibumba tented camp just near the trailhead of Mount Nyiragongo in Virunga National Park.
Day 2: Virunga Gorilla Trekking in Congo
On the 2nd day of the 5 days Virunga and gorilla trekking in Uganda safari, after early morning breakfast at your camp, you will make your way and report to Bukima patrol with your passport and permit details for registration and briefing about your gorilla safari in Congo. All treks in Virunga National Park begin here. Later head into the forest with your ranger guide and expect to hike for 1 to 3 hours until you find the mountain Gorillas in Virunga National Park. When you get to see them, you will be awe-inspired by their huge size take pictures of the species as you observe their behavior in the wild. You will stay up to 1 hour maximum and head back to the camp enjoy a late lunch and have the rest of the day at leisure, including time for nature walks and bird watching. Return to your accommodation and the end of your Congo safari
Day 3: Transfer to Kigali
On the 3rd day of the 5 days Virunga and gorilla trekking in Uganda safari, here, you will connect with your driver/guide and transfer back to Kigali. You will be able to do a city tour visiting the Kigali Genocide Memorial Museum to understand more about the Rwanda genocide, you can also go for souvenir shopping. Dinner and overnight in Kigali city
Day 4: City tour & Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park
On the 4th day of the 5 days Virunga and gorilla trekking in Uganda safari, you will be picked up from your hotel in Kigali and go for a tour of the remarkable Kigali city – visiting Kimironko local market where you will interact with the locals and try a bargain on the local produce and the genocide memorial site where you will learn more about the terrible 1994 genocide. Have lunch and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park through the Katuna border and arriving Bwindi – the home of Uganda gorillas which make up half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Buhoma Community Rest Camp (budget), Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge (mid-range), Silverback Gorilla Lodge (luxury)
Day 5: Gorilla Trekking Bwindi & Back to Kigali
On the last day of the 5 days Virunga and gorilla trekking in Uganda safari, you will enjoy an early morning breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters with your packed lunch and bottled drinking water for a briefing by the park ranger guides at 7:00 am. After the briefing, you will start your Uganda gorilla trekking journey accompanied by the ranger guides in search of the mountain gorillas; this takes 2 to 8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. After the trek, you will enjoy your lunch packs and transfer back to Kigali arriving in the evening. Drop off at the airport or your hotel in Kigali
