Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park from Kigali city

Depending on your location in Kigali city, your guide will pick you up and transfer you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the home to half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas in Africa. The drive to the park, although a bit tedious, will give you exceptional views of the rolling hills of Rwanda and the Kigezi hills in Uganda, with breathtaking views of the coffee and tea plantations. On reaching the park in any of its sectors, you can participate in the Batwa trail experience that will give you an insight into the former forest people who used to co-exist with the wildlife that have unique cultural values through their food, cultural dances, and so on. Day 2: Gorilla trekking and departure to Kigali city

After an early morning breakfast at your hotel with your packed lunch, you will make your way to the park headquarters to participate in the briefing session for your gorilla trekking experience in Uganda. This experience will give you an hour-long interaction with the gentle giants, taking their pictures, and watching their behavior in their designated gorilla family. You will ask questions about the species from the knowledgeable guide, who will give you all the relevant information about the species. After the experience, you will then connect to your guide, who will transfer you back to Kigali city, where you will make your way to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Kigali city tour

After a filling breakfast, connect with your guide to embark on the Kigali city tour, which will focus on highlighting the development and vibrant culture of Rwanda. Some of the stopovers will be the Kigali genocide memorial museum which highlights how far the country has come to become a peaceful and safe country, visit the inema arts centre for a look into the captivating art and story telling of the people of Rwanda through arts and crafts, kimironko market where you can purchase souvenir and laos connect with people from different parts of the country which highlights how culturally diverse Rwanda is. After the safari experience, head to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay, as the night before.

Day 4: Transfer to Akagera National Park and a full Game drive

With your packed lunch at your hotel, transfer to Akagera National Park, where you will participate in a full day game drive in akagera national park. The day drives will give you access to the herbivores as they graze, quench their thirst during the hot sun. While you embark on the night game drives in Akagera National Park, you will explore several nocturnal animals that come out of hiding when the sun sets to hunt. Bird species like the night jars can also be seen in the park for travelers interested in birding in Rwanda.  After your Safari, return to connect with your driver guide to embark on your transfer to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay

Day 5: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

After an early morning breakfast, make your way to Volcanoes National Park, arriving in time to participate in the cultural tour to have a look at the unique culture of the people of Rwanda. You will visit the ibyi’wacu cultural village that will entertain you through its traditional dances and folk songs. You will enjoy preparing the locals’ traditional dishes that will make your experience quite authentic and fulfilling. After the experience, head to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay. Day 6: Gorilla trekking in Rwanda and departure

After breakfast at your hotel, make your way to the park, Kinigi headquarters, to go through the briefing session for the rules and regulations to follow for your gorilla trekking experience in Rwanda. You will be assigned to a guide to ensure you have a rewarding, knowledgeable safari experience, and a ranger to ensure you have a safe experience. After the session, you will embark on hiking the Virunga mountains in Rwanda to access the habituated gorilla family. Depending on the movement of the family, the experience will take about 2-7 hours so make use of it by taking pictures of the species when you get in contact with them, ask questions about their behaviou in the wild and when the one hour with the species elapses, you will make your way back to Kigali city where you will be dropped off at a location of your choice which will mark the end of your 6 days primate and widlife safaris in Uganda and Rwanda.
