Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park

You will be met by your driver guide at your agreed location in Kigali to transfer to Nyungwe forest you will be driven southwards to Nyungwe Forest National Park watching a number of rewarding attractions like the rolling hills of Rwanda, the homesteads, and so on. You will have a stopover in Butare, where you will visit the National Museum of Rwanda, and the king’s palace in Nyanza with lunch en route. When you get to the park, you will get to check in at your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay at Gisakura Visitor Centre(budget) Nyungwe Hill top view mid-range

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and canopy walk

Enjoy breakfast and go for a briefing about the endangered chimpanzees before entering the forest in search of the active and playful fellows in Nyungwe forest. The Chimpanzees are much easier to spot as they jump from one tree to another, chattering and laughing. Chimpanzee tracking usually takes about 3 hours. On finding them, spend an hour taking pictures and videos, After lunch, you head for the canopy walk in Nyungwe National Park which will give you exceptional views of the park as you walk along the suspended metallic trail in the trees. You will get to see a number of primates swinging within the branches, like the chimpanzees, and different monkey species, you will see numerous bird species and after the rewarding experience, head back to your lodge/ hotel. Day 3: Transfer to Kigali City

Wake up very early in the morning have breakfast and embark on your way to Kigali city. You can participate in the Kigali city tour where you will get to visit the Kigali genocide memorial museum, you can visit the Kimironko Market, and many other rewarding sites in the wild. Dinner and overnight at Hotel des Mille Collines.

Day 4: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park and afternoon community tour

You will be met by your driver guide at your agreed location in Kigali city to transfer to Volcanoes National Park where you will arrive in time to participate in the Ibyi’wacu cultural village tour. Have a guided walk around the village at the different sites that exhibit the different aspects of the people of the village to have an insight into the interesting features of the culture of the people of Rwanda.  You will get to see the replica of the king’s palace where you will get to see the architecture that they used during the olden times which involves the use of grass and cow dung to establish strong house structures. At the king’s palace, you will get to see a medicine man who is mixing a number of herbs that were used to cure a number of diseases like bareness and impotence, stomach upsets, fever, and many more. If you’re interested, you can also get involved in mixing the herbs which will give you an authentic experience. After the experience head to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay at Hotel Muhabura(Budget) Da Vinci Hotel (mid-range)

Day 5: Gorilla trekking and transfer back to Kigali

As early as 6 am, you will be expected to be up for breakfast and ready to set off for the trek. Our guide will meet you after having your breakfast and your lunches packed and he will take you to Kinigi Headquarters where you are expected to be given a brief before starting the gorilla trek. This brief is done at 7 am. You are given guidelines during this brief before you are allowed to start the trek. This gorilla trek can take about 2 hours to half a day as it’s unpredictable. When you finally find the gorillas, you will have to maintain a 7-meter distance and you are allowed one hour to admire and take photos of the gorillas. After the trek, you will then embark on your journey back to Kigali and check into your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay at Hotel Des Mille Collines.

Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park

After tour breakfast, you will start the journey to Bwindi impenetrable national park which takes about 4 to 5 hours to drive passing through the Katuna border in Kabale. On the way, you will enjoy great views of rolling hills in Rwanda, terraced farmlands, and beautiful scenery among others. Upon arrival in the par,k you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Four Gorilla Lodge luxury/ Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge  Rushaga Haven Lodge (budget)

Day 7: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park and transfer back to Kigali

After an early breakfast, you will carry a packed lunch from the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will start trekking in the jungle in search of the mountain gorillas which takes about 30 minutes to 6 hours depending on where the gorillas are located because they like to move from one place to another in search of food. During trekking,g you will be able to view other primate species such as l’hoest monkeys, chimpanzees, black and white colobus monkeys, different plant species, and birds among others. Once the mountain gorillas are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which gives you an opportunity to observe their habits, and behaviors, watch gorillas feed, breastfeed, groom young ones, take photos, and record the breathtaking moments to show people back home after the safari. After the one-hour encounter with the gentle giants, you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will be rewarded a certificate for participating in gorilla trekking and then drive out of the park and drive back to Kigali. Upon arrival, our driver guide will drop you off at Kigali International Airport for your departure flight or drop off at any place of advice.
