DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: City tour & Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable forest National Park
On day 1 of the 8 Days Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya Safari, at a location of your choice in Kigali city, you will be picked up by your guide from your hotel in Kigali and go for a tour of the remarkable Kigali city – visiting Kimironko local market where you will interact with the locals and try a bargain on the local produce and the genocide memorial site where you will learn more about the terrible 1994 genocide. Have lunch and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park through the Katuna border and arriving Bwindi – the home of Uganda gorillas in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Buhoma Community Rest Camp (budget), Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge (mid-range), and Silverback Gorilla Lodge (luxury)
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Bwindi & Back to Kigali
On day 2 of the 8 Days Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya Safari, you will enjoy an early morning breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters with your packed lunch and bottled drinking water for a briefing by the park ranger guides at 7:00 am. After the briefing, you will start your gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park journey accompanied by the ranger guides in search of the mountain gorillas which will take you about 2 to 8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas and get to spend an hour with the species observing several different features of the gorillas as they go about their daily activities in the wild. After the trek, you will enjoy your lunch packs and transfer back to Kigali arriving in the evening. Drop off at the airport or your hotel in Kigali. Hotel des mille collines.
Day 3: Transfer to Ruhengeri / Musanze
On day 3 of the 8 Days Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya Safari, at a location of your choice in Kigali or your hotel in Kigali, you will be picked up and transferred to Ruhengeri – the base town for Volcanoes National Park and the home to half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas arriving in the afternoon. Check into your hotel for relaxation and leisure and if you have time, you can participate in an optional cultural tour where you can visit the iby’iwacu cultural group to understand more about the culture of the people of Rwanda. Day 4: Gorilla Trekking Rwanda
On day 4 of the 8 Days Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya Safari, after enjoying breakfast and your packed lunch, you will get to the park reception where you will participate in the briefing session at 7 am. Your guide will give you highlights of specific details about the way of life of the gorillas you will be tracking. The hike can take anywhere from 2-7 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. Trekking through the steep, bamboo slopes and then finally coming across the gorillas in the vegetation cover is a privileged moment. Once you reach the gorillas, you are allowed to spend one hour with them as you stand 6 meters away. Upon completion of this magical encounter, you will be awarded a gorilla certificate connect again with your driver/guide and transfer back to Kigali arriving in the evening.
Day 5: Transfer to Maasai Mara
From Kigali city you will fly to Jomo Kenyatta airport in Nairobi, you will be meant by our company representative to start your journey to Maasai Mara at your agreed time with your safari guide. The drive to the national park will take about 5 hours from Nairobi on the road and on reaching Maasai Mara National Park, you can get to participate in the game drive in Maasai Mara National Park. Day 6: Full Day in Maasai mara
Early morning breakfast at your selected hotel, our guide will pick you up and connect to explore the Maasai Mara plains for a game drive that will get you quite close to different wildlife species in big numbers. From buffaloes to fearless lions, a number of different bird species, and many other different animal species in the wild for travelers interested in watching the best game in Africa, Maasai Mara will fulfill all your needs. Be keen enough as you observe the popularly known wildebeest migration from Serengeti National Park crossing to Maasai Mara via Mara River and if you are lucky enough you will get to watch crocodiles waiting on their prey and also get to watch how they hunt for species. It should be noted that the migration only takes place from July to October. Animals such as the wildebeest, zebras, lions, cheetahs, elephants, hyenas, and Thompson’s gazelle to mention but a few can be spotted. Spend the whole day on a game drive with your packed lunch.
Later return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation from the scorching sun. In the evening, participate in the evening game drive. Dinner and overnight at the lodge as above.
Day 7: Maasai Mara
After an early morning breakfast, you will then make your way back to the plains and get to spend another day exploring the magical Maasai Mara. Another game drive will help you watch more species that you might have missed out on during your first game drive in the park. Later in the afternoon, visit the Maasai community for a cultural tour visit the Maasai dinner and overnight stay at your hotel.
Day 8: Transfer back to Nairobi
On the last day of the 8 Days Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya Safari, after your breakfast at your hotel, meet your safari guide to drive back to Nairobi city, depending on your departure flight, your guide will drop you off at a location where you will advise in Nairobi or be dropped at the airport for your evening flight back home.
