Budongo forest

With the passion he has for conservation of the wildlife and the forest at large, professor Reynolds together with Chris Bakuneeta who obtained a Master in Sciences in Forestry at Makerere University, they established a base at Budongo forest from which to discover the number of chimpanzees that were left and to ensure their safety.
With the help of the Jane Goodall institute, there was some funding received which helped to hire trail cutters and assistants that went to the forests and day by day, a number of chimpanzees were discovered and the trainers would follow them took care of them to win their confidence because they were terrified because of the civil war which had left them distressed but as time went on they were successful in habituating the chimpanzees.
