For travellers interested in knowing more about the night life of the mountain gorillas, here is all you need to know about the species in the wild.

Interesting about the gorillas is the fact that they share 98 percent of the human DNA which makes them have a number of characteristics including their physical aspects that is quite similar to that of humans. When it comes to the night life of the gorillas in the wild here are some of the features that you do not get to watch and these include;

It should be noted that the gorillas construct their nests every night which is quite fascinating because of the reason behind it. The reasons why they do so is because of the need to prevent insects and other parasites to breed in their’ ’beddings’’ which can cause discomfort when they sleep in them hence making them to construct new nests to sleep in every night. It should be noted no matter the circumstances, gorillas will always construct new nests and this is constructed in areas where they can keep an eye on the intruders or other gorilla families to avoid them from raiding the gorilla family of its members. It should be noted that the more the more members the stronger the gorilla families.

It should be noted that the average time for the gorillas to make their nest is about minutes, it should also be noted that the younger gorillas can be seen building their nests during the day where they can rest and also play and also where they can be fed by the adult females in the group.

At night while in their nests, you will get to realise the fact that the young ones in a gorilla family sleep in the same nest as the mother but once the mother conceives and gives birth to an infant they will be kicked out of the nest and they will start sleeping in their nests. Before they are kicked out of the nests, they are taught life skills like grooming one another, how to harvest food, how to construct their nests and by the time they are chased away from their mother’s nests they have the basic life skills to help them during their daily lives.

On average, gorillas spend 12 hours sleeping at night and that is one of the reasons why the gorillas are strong and are able to carry out long walks through the day in such of food this is because they get ample rest.  The gorillas start making their nests before sunset and get to sleep in them when they get dark and they get to wake up after sunrise this is because they are not early risers.
