Aside from those mention, you can also spot other wildlife animals in the park such as; topi, Sitatunga, antelopes, duikers, waterbucks, giraffes, zebras, hippos and so many more. Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and Transfer to Akagera.
Arrival & Transfer to Akagera: On Day 1 of your 2 Days Akagera Safari, you will be picked up by your guide from Kigali International Airport or your designated hotel in Kigali city. You will then be transferred to Akagera national park which is situated just 2⅟₂ hours from the city center.
Afternoon Boat Cruise: Upon your arrival in Akagera National Park, you will embark on an afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema, which is the largest of 10 lakes that are located within the national park. Akagera is the only savannah national park in Rwanda and was first established in 1934 by the Belgian colonial government. The park covers 1,122 square kilometers and is by far the largest national park in Rwanda. While on your boat cruise, you will have an opportunity to view the stunning birdlife in the park and around lake. Akagera national park has more than 750 species of birds and some common birds that you can spot while on a boat cruise include; the shoe bill stock, Suaza shrike, raptors, lesser kestrel and the great sniper bird to mention but a few. The boat cruise usually takes between 1-2 hours. After your boat cruise experience, retire to your lodge for the evening or you can opt to go guided nature walk and explore the marvelous flora and fauna species that Akagera National Park has to offer. Dinner and overnight stay at Ruzizi Tented Camp or Akagera Game Lodge.
Day 2: Morning Game Drive and Transfer back to Kigali.
Have your breakfast early in the morning and head out for a morning game drive. Get to explore the beautiful savanna and landscape in the park. You will also have the opportunity to see wildlife animals in the park like; elephants, buffalos, lions, leopards, rhinos, water bucks to mention but a few. If you are lucky, you will get to spot all the Big Five animals in the national park. Head back to your lodge for lunch and later transfer back to Kigali. Depending on your arrival time in Kigali, you can do an optional city tour and later have your guide drop you off at your hotel in Kigali City or at Kigali International Airport. End of Tour.
