Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Lake Kivu
At a location of your choice in Kigali city, make your way to Kibuye having a stopover at Nyanza where you will visit the King’s palace which will give you an insight about the culture of the people of Rwanda as you observe the unique architecture, the inyambo cattle known for their eye catching long horns, you will explore the royal watch how beer is made among other rewarding attractions. After the safari experience, you will make your way to your hotel in kibuye reaching late in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel
Day 2: Full day Lake Kivu experience and transfer to Nyungwe
After an early morning breakfast, make your way to Lake Kivu and get ready for a fun-filled experience exploring Lake Kivu. The experience will start with the boat cruise, which will give you the chance to enjoy the cool breeze as you watch the different attractions and views in the wild. You will visit Napoleon Island, where you will watch several different bird species. You will visit coffee plantations and also get the chance to participate in coffee harvesting, enjoy the sunset cruise, and later head back to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking in Rwanda and transfer back to Kigali city
After an early morning breakfast at your hotel, make your way to Nyungwe National Park, where you will arrive in time to participate in chimpanzee trekking. The experience will lead you to either Gisakura for the cyamudongo or Uwinka chimpanzee troops and Gisovu. When you get to the reception, you will embark on the briefing sessions for the rules and regulations for chimpanzee trekking. Make your way through the forests to access the habituated chimpanzee troops. When you get to them, you will spend an hour with them, which will give you the chance to understand the behavior of the primates as you spend time with them. After the safari experience, you will head back to Kigali city, where you will be dropped off at a location of your choice, and this will mark the end of your 3 days chimpanzee trekking and Lake Kivu safari.
