Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Kigali, transfer to Akagera National Park and boat cruise
You will be met by your driver guide at your agreed location in Kigali to transfer to Akagera national park where you will arrive in time to embark in an early morning game drives that will give you the chance to watch a number of game animals especially the herbivores like the elephants grazing within the plains, the rhinos, you will also get to see a number of remarkable views for the park and a number of rewarding attractions after your game drive you will transferred to the lodge for lunch and refreshments and later on participate in the afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema where you will see game like hippopotamuses, Crocodiles and many bird species like the endangered shoe bill stork, African King fishers catching their prey from the Lake that live around the lake and the surrounding swamps. After dinner, you will participate in the night game drive which will give you rewarding safari experiences watching how the park comes to life when the sunsets, notable animals that you will get to watch during the night game drive include the big cats like the leopards, the lions catching their prey.
Day 2: Full day game drives
Rise up early and go for a game drive with great anticipation of seeing the different animals which rise early to graze and predators looking for their early morning kill. After the game drive, return to connect with your driver guide and drive back to your lodge for lunch. Later in the afternoon, you will embark in the evening game drives and get to watch a number of wildlife species that you might have missed out during the morning game drives which will give you clear views of the early risers in the park like the elephants, rhinos, oribi and many other rewarding attractions. in the evening game drives you will get the chance to watch a number of carnivores hunting for their prey as you watch a number of herbivores heading back to their hiding spots. Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Breakfast will be served early meet your driver guide for your transfer to Volcanoes National Park. On reaching, you will participate in Ibyi’wacu cultural village tour. Have a guided walk around the village at the different sites that exhibit the different aspects of the people of at the village to have a insight about the interesting features of the culture of the people of Rwanda. After head to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4: Gorilla trekking in Rwanda
After an early morning breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked up from your hotel. our guide will meet you after having your breakfast and your lunches packed and he will take you to Kinigi Headquarters, where you are expected to be given a brief before starting the gorilla trek. This brief is done at 7 am. You are given guidelines during this brief before you are allowed to start the trek. This gorilla trek can take to about 2 hours- 7 hours depending in the species which you will get to spend an hour with them observing a number of their rewarding features including how they go about their daily activities from watching the leaders of the group, the silverbacks who have all the mating rights with all the females of the group.
Day 5: Golden Monkey trekking and transfer back
After an early morning breakfast at your hotel, you will head to the park headquarters to participate in the briefing session for golden monkey trekking. After the session, you will participate in the golden monkey trekking which will lead you to the Virunga mountains in Rwanda that you will hike to access the habituated golden monkey troops. You will get to observe how they go about their daily activities in the wild. The golden monkeys van be accessed when you hike the Virunga mountains in Rwanda which will lead you to the habituated gorilla families watching how they co-exist with one another, the environment and many other rewarding features. After the safari experience, you will head back to Kigali city where you will be dropped off at a location of your choice.
