Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe
In the morning, you will be picked up by your driver at your hotel in Kigali and driven south to Nyungwe Forest National Park. You will have a stopover in Butare, where you will visit the national museum of Rwanda, the king’s palace in Nyanza, with lunch en route. After lunch, you will visit the Huye women’s coffee cooperative to understand more about how women are empowered through their coffee projects. You will have the chance to harvest coffee, get to watch the roasted process, and get to watch how it is processed into the finished product that you will get to taste after the safari experience. After you will make your way to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2-3: Full day birding in Nyungwe National Park
On days 2-3, you will have an early morning breakfast at your hotel and then embark on your full day of birding in Nyungwe National Park. Your birding expedition will lead you to the karamba birding trail which will give you access to some different bird species like the Pockefellers’s sun bird, Chapin’s flycatcher, Rwenzori Batis, strange weaver, red throated alethe among other bird species., and some other bird species like the blue turaco, Ross’s turaco, coqui Francolin, long tailed cisticola, bubbling cisticola, Miombo wren warbler, Chubb’s cisticola. After the experience, you will head to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4: Transfer back to Kigali city
After an early morning breakfast, head to the park to embark on the Isumo Trail in The phenomenal hike will lead you to beautiful and dramatic views of the stunning Isumo waterfalls. On reaching the falls, you will be in awe of the beauty and the splendor with eye-catching views perfect for photography, watch several bird species that include Rwenzori Turaco, as well as primates like L’Hoest’s monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, and blue monkeys, among other attractions.
