Hotel Rwanda

Hotel Rwanda, is a movie that based on the 1994 Rwanda genocide which centred around the hotel that acted as refuge for a number of Rwandan that were targeted by the Hutu that were being killed. The 1994 Rwanda genocide was a dark period of time in the country where the Hutu that believed that they were unfairly treated during the colonial period where a number of tutsis occupied prestigious positions in government which led to rivalry between the Tutsis and the Hutu which they interpreted as being unfair because they settled in the country before the hutu and also because of the fact that the Hutu where mainly squatters and the Tutsis land owners because they were rich with large numbers of cattle which led to the outbreak of the 1994 Rwanda genocide.

The genocide focused on wiping away the Tutsis from the map of Rwanda but this did not only mean the Tutsis were the people that the hutu focused on killing this is because the batwa another interesting group of people in the country were also killed, a number of lesser Hutu that helped the Tutsis to hide or gave them shelter were also killed, also the Tutsis that looked like tutsis which was because of the intermarriage of the Hutu and Tutsi parents which led to their death hence a period of blood-shed in the country which led to over 1,000,000 Rwandans being killed in the country.
