This 3 days gorilla trekking and Dian Fossey Museum Safari will give you the origin of the endangered mountain gorillas and their sustainability in Africa. The safari experience will lead you to Volcanoes National Park, the home to the mountain gorillas in Rwanda. During your safari experience, you will get to access the Virunga mountains in Rwanda that is mount Gahinga, Mount Karisimbi, Mount Bisoke, Mount Sabyinyo, and Mount Muhabura which you will get to hike in order to access the habituated gorilla families in Rwanda and when you embark on Dian Fossey museum visit, you will get to understand the force behind sustainable gorilla trekking with her research being used a basis for gorilla habituation in Africa which led to gorilla habituation in Uganda and gorilla habituation in Congo. When you visit the Dian Fossey Museum, you will get to have an insight into her legacy through her efforts to promote gorilla sustainability. Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

On your first day of the 3 days gorilla trekking and Dian Fossey Museum Safari, you will be met by our representative who will pick you up from the airport or your preferred location in Kigali where you will make your way to embark on a journey to your hotel nearer to Volcanoes National park the home of these endangered species to rest and prepare for the trek the next morning. You can also participate in a village walk(optional) to help you gain an insight into the culture of the people of Rwanda after the walk, head back to your hotel for dinner will be at the hotel.  Da Vinci Lodge (mid range) Amikus hotel (budget)

Day 2: Gorilla trek in Volcanoes National Park

Gorilla Trekking: Have a light breakfast grab your packed lunches and set out to the park headquarters at 7 am to get the morning brief before your trek on what to expect, the do’s and don’ts, and also get a chance to book your porter and all the hiking gear you may need. Set out into the forest in search of the gorillas. Trek with the rangers for about 2 to 7 hours according to the location of the gorillas. Once you meet these endangered animals, you will be allowed 1 hour to enjoy their presence and it is in this magical hour that you get to take photos and study the lifestyles of the mountain gorillas in their families as they go about their daily routines. Connect back to your accommodation for a late lunch and spend the evening at leisure. You may take on an optional community visit or cultural tour if you are feeling energetic. Get back to the lodge before the sun sets, have dinner, and overnight, as the night before.

Day 3: Dian Fossey Museum visit and transfer back to Kigali

Dian Fossey Hike & Departure: On the last day of the 3 days gorilla trekking and Dian Fossey Museum Safari, after breakfast, set out for your 2-hour drive to Kigali with an en-route Dian Fossey museum visit where you will spend about 2 hours learning about the famous gorilla lady with artifacts that belonged to her along with an impression of the Virunga ranges. This is a thrilling walk through the museum. Connect back to Kigali for lunch and if you have more time you may visit the Kimironko market to purchase some local souvenirs for the people back home and also get to interact with the community.

Drop Off: You will be dropped off at your agreed location in Kigali which will mark the end of your 3 days gorilla trekking and Dian Fossey Museum Safari.
