Details of your safari
Day 1: Transfer to Gisenyi-Congo border
At a location of your choice in Kigali city, you will be picked by your guide at your agreed location to welcome you and embark on your drive to cross into Congo to Goma. On reaching Goma, you will check into the tourism office at the Grand Barrier Border Post to receive your Gorilla trekking permit in Congo and Mount Nyiragongo hike permit that is to be presented at the beginning of the trek. After receiving your permits, you will transfer to Kibumba tented camp just near the trailhead of Mount Nyiragongo.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Virunga National Park
Wake up early, have breakfast, then report to Bukima patrol, where you will then present your passport and the different permit details for registration and briefing. After the briefing session, you will head into the forest with your ranger guide and expect to hike between 2-3 hours to set off to find the mountain Gorillas in Virunga National Park. When you get to the mountain gorillas, when you get to gorillas, you will have the opportunity to watch the species and their different features for a memorable safari experience. You will be allowed an hour with the gorillas as they go about their daily activities in the wild for a memorable experience
Day 3: Transfer to Lake Kivu
After an early morning breakfast at your hotel, you will make your way back to Rwanda through the Grande Barrier, where you will get your visa to cross back to Rwanda. It is important to note that your Rwanda visa expires once you cross to Congo. After crossing, you will make your way to Lake Kivu. The first stop will be at Nyamirundi Island, where you will visit ‘Ingoboka’ a coffee plantation, where you will get to watch how the coffee is grown. You will also get the chance to watch how the coffee is processed from being harvested, dried, and then processed into some of the best coffee in the world. Interesting about your coffee tour, you will also get to have a cup of coffee. After the safari experience, you will make your way to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay as you await the next day’s activity.

Day 4: Boat cruise, fishing, and departure
Wake up early morning, have an amazing breakfast at your lodge, and later transfer to participate in the boat cruise on lake Kivu. Exploring the lake will give you a breathtaking experience as you observe the neighboring hills, diverse bird species and a number of rewarding attractions. This 1-hour safari experience will give you the utmost experience as you enjoy the boat ride along the lake, enjoying the cool breeze for a memorable safari experience. After the rewarding experience, you will make your way to participate in optional fishing on Lake Kivu, which will give you access to over 69 fish species. Fishing as an activity is quite a time-consuming activity, but worth all the time you get top spend on it because it is quite relaxing. After the safari experience, you will be dropped off in Kigali city at a location of your choice or the airport to catch your flight back home and the end of your 4 days gorilla trekking in Virunga National Park and Lake Kivu experience.
