Detailed itinerary of the 4 days of Uganda and Rwanda gorilla safari
Day 1: City tour & Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable forest National Park
On day 1 of the 4 days Uganda and Rwanda gorilla safari, at a location of your choice in Kigali city, you will be picked up by your guide from your hotel in Kigali and go for a tour of the remarkable Kigali city – visiting Kimironko local market where you will interact with the locals and try a bargain on the local produce and the genocide memorial site where you will learn more about the terrible 1994 genocide. Have lunch and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park through the Katuna border and arriving Bwindi – the home of Uganda gorillas in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Buhoma Community Rest Camp (budget), Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge (mid-range), and Silverback Gorilla Lodge (luxury)
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Bwindi & Back to Kigali
On the 2nd day of 4 days Uganda and Rwanda gorilla safari, you will enjoy an early morning breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters with your packed lunch and bottled drinking water for a briefing by the park ranger guides at 7:00 am. After the briefing, you will start your gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park journey accompanied by the ranger guides in search of the mountain gorillas which will take you about 2 to 8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas and get to spend an hour with the species observing a number of different features of the gorillas as they go about their daily activities in the wild. After the trek, you will enjoy your lunch packs and transfer back to Kigali arriving in the evening. Drop off at the airport or your hotel in Kigali. Hotel des mille collines.
Day 3: Transfer to Ruhengeri / Musanze
On the 3rd day of 4 days Uganda and Rwanda gorilla safari, at a location of your choice in Kigali or your hotel in Kigali you will be picked up and transferred to Ruhengeri – the base town for Volcanoes National Park and the home to half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas arriving in the afternoon. Check into your hotel for relaxation and leisure and if you have time, you can participate in an optional cultural tour where you can visit the iby’iwacu cultural group to understand more about the culture of the people of Rwanda. Day 4: Gorilla Trekking Rwanda
On the last day of 4 days Uganda and Rwanda gorilla safari, after enjoying breakfast and with your packed lunch. You will get to the park reception where you will participate in the briefing session at 7 am. Your guide will give you highlights of specific details about the way of life of the gorillas you will be tracking. The hike can take anywhere from 2-7 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. Trekking through the steep, bamboo slopes and then finally coming across the gorillas in the vegetation cover is a privileged moment. Once you reach the gorillas, you are allowed to spend one hour with them as you stand 6 meters away. Upon completion of this magical encounter, you will be awarded a gorilla certificate connect again with your driver/guide and transfer back to Kigali arriving in the evening.
