DETAILED ITINERARY
Day one: Transfer to Akagera national park and Ihema Boat Cruise.
You will be met by your driver guide at your agreed location in Kigali to transfer to Akagera national park where you will arrive in time to embark in the boat cruise on Lake Ihema where you will see game like hippopotamuses, elephants quenching their thirst from the river banks, Crocodiles and many bird species like the endangered shoe bill stork, the king fishers and many other water birds that live around the lake and the surrounding swamps. Day two: Full day Game drive
Rise up early in the morning have breakfast and go for a morning game drive with great anticipation of seeing the different animals which rise early to graze and predators looking for their early morning kill especially the big cats like the leopard, lions and many other carnivores. You will get to watch a number of herbivores like the rhinos grazing within the plains, elephants, gazelle, oribi and many other rewarding game animals. After the morning game drives, you will head back to your hotel for refreshments and later in the afternoon transfer to take part in the evening game drive. Get ready to watch how the park comes to life as the sunsets with a number of predators coming from their hiding spots to catch prey, the herbivores catching their last bite for the day, the crocodiles can be seen sun-basking, elephants quenching their thirst from the river banks which will make your safari quite memorable. After an amazing safari experience, you will make your way back to Akagera Game Lodge (mid-range) Ruzizi tented camp(Luxury)for dinner and overnight stay.
Day Three: Hot air balloon safari and night game drive
After an early morning breakfast at your hotel, you will set off to the Kayitaba point in Akagera national park where the hot air balloon safaris take off from. The activity starts as early as 5am but its adjustable depending on the sunrise time. At the point you will be taken through the rules and regulations for the activity, the instructions to follow as you prepare for the safari. After the preparations embark on the experience as you enter the basket and begin your flight. during the experience enjoy the aerial view of the park watching a number of rewarding attractions like the different herbivores grazing within the plains, you will enjoy the calmness of the park as you enjoy the beautiful views of the sunrise over lake Ihema. The experience is finished with popping a bottle of champagne after landing where you will also receive a certificate of participation signed by the pilot which is quite rewarding. After your experience, your will transfer you to your lodge for lunch and relaxation and at night you will participate in the night game drive which will give you the chance to observe how the park comes to life when the sun sets. Day Four : Game drive and transfer to kigali
Rise up early in the morning have breakfast and on this day you will take part in the game drive that will give you the chance to watch a number of animals in the park like the different animals which rise early to graze that you might have missed out on during the game drive the day before for a rewarding safari experience after the rewarding encounter your driver/guide will drive back to Kigali
Day 5: Transfer to Nyungwe
At your agreed location in Kigali city, you will be picked by your guide at your hotel in Kigali and drive southwards to Nyungwe forest National park watching a number of rewarding attractions like the rolling hills of Rwanda, the homesteads and so on. You will have a stopover in Butare, where you will visit the national museum of Rwanda, the king’s palace in Nyanza with lunch en-route. After lunch, you head After lunch, you will connect to the park check in and after the safari experience, you will participate in the evening nature walks to help you explore more about the park and also have the most relaxing adventure. Day 6: Isumo waterfalls hike and guided nature walk
After an early morning breakfast at your hotel, connect to the park and participate in the Isumo waterfalls hike. The Isumo waterfalls trail is the beautiful gem that is hidden within the dense rain forest that is the Isumo waterfalls. On reaching the end of the trail, every tourist’s jaw will drop with the beauty that is hidden within the park, the waterfalls can be seen passing through a narrow gorge but the sights and sounds of the water waking its way through the gorge will make you relax and will want to see more and more of the nature thrilling views. Day 7: Tea estate tour and departure
After an early morning breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked up by your guide who will then participate in the tea estate tour which will give you the chance to watch how the tea is harvested you will also participate in the harvesting process, how it is made among other interesting features at the estate. After the rewarding safari, head back to your hotel for dinner and overnight at Dinner and overnight at Gisakura guest house (budget accommodation) Da Vinci lodge (mid-range accommodation)
