Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Kibale national park
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Kibale national park, upon arrival at Entebbe international airport on the first day of the 5 days Kibale chimpanzee and Queen Elizabeth wildlife safari, you will be welcomed by our driver guide who will brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Kibale national park in western Uganda. On the way you will have a stopover at the Equator to take photos, buy souvenirs and then proceed with another stopover at Igongo cultural centre for lunch. After lunch you will proceed the journey to Kibale National Park with stunning views of the crater lakes, Rwenzori ranges, tea plantations, beautiful scenery among others. Upon arrival you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi swamp walk
Chimpanzee trekking, after an early breakfast on the second day of the 5 days Kibale chimpanzee and Queen Elizabeth wildlife safari your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge and transfer to Kanyachu visitors center for a briefing about chimpanzee trekking. After the briefing you will be allocated a chimpanzee family to trek and a park guide who will lead you during trekking. Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park takes about 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on where the chimpanzees are located because they like to move from one place to another in search of food. During trekking you will be able to view other primates because kibale national park is a home of about 13 primateK such as grey cheeked mangabey, red tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, l’hoest monkeys, view different bird species, mammals, plants among others. Once the chimpanzees are found you will be able to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which gives you a chance to watch them feed, breastfeed, fight, play, hunt, rest, mate, learn about their behaviors, take photos and record videos with a flash less camera. After the face to face encounter with the chimpanzees you will trek back to the starting point where you will meet up with your driver guide and return to the lodge for lunch.
Bigodi swamp walk, after lunch you will go for a nature walk in Bigodi swamp where you will be able to view different primate species like grey cheeked mangabey, l’hoest monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, baboons, view bird species like the great blue turaco, mammals like bush pigs, bushbucks, view different plant and tree species, colorful butterflies, enjoy the cool breeze among others. After the swamp walk you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park
After breakfast on the third day of the 5 days Kibale chimpanzee and Queen Elizabeth wildlife safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. On the way you will have spectacular views of the crater lakes, tea plantations and upon arrival in Queen Elizabeth National Park you will check into the lodge and have lunch.
Afternoon game drive, after lunch you will go for an afternoon game drive in the park where you will have great views of animals like buffaloes, elephants, giant forest hogs, bushbucks, waterbucks, Uganda kobs, some bird species among others. After the game drive you will drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking
On day two of your 3 days Kibale national park safari after an early morning breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked by your guide for the hotel who will transfer you to Kibale National Park for you to take part in the chimpanzee trekking in Kibale national park. on reaching the park headquarters, you will participate in a briefing session of the chimpanzee trekking activity in the park, and the rules and regulations to follow during the memorable activity. The rewarding activity will give you the opportunity to visit one of the habituated chimpanzee troops in the park. as you make your way to the habituated chimpanzee troops, you will get to see a number of rewarding attractions like the different bird species like the African pitta, Abyssinian ground thrush, Crowned eagle, Dusky crimson wing, Black-capped Apalis, Collared Apalis, Purple-breasted sunbird among other attractions. On reaching the habituated troops in the park, you will get the chance to know more about the chimpanzees like how they co-exist with one another, their feeding patterns among other rewarding experiences, during your safari you will take pictures of the primates a number of bird species among other attractions in the park. After the rewarding experience in the park, you will transfer back to your hotel for relaxation and lunch in the evening you will have dinner and an overnight stay. Alternatively, in the evening, you can participate in the nature walks as you carry out photography.
Day 5: cultural tour and departure
On day three of your 3 days Kibale national park safari after an early morning breakfast at your hotel you will be picked up by your guide who will transfer you to the local community where you will visit the locals in Bigodi you will see how the locals co-exist with the Bigodi wetland where they get a number of products and raw materials. You can also buy a number of crafts like baskets and pen holders as souvenirs at the end of your trip After the trip to the local community, you will be transferred back to Kampala, through Mbarara town, and you will have a stopover to have lunch at the Igongo cultural centre. After lunch, you will make your way to Kampala, and on reaching Kampala city, you will take part in a Kampala city tour where you will visit places like Nakasero market one of the oldest markets in Uganda where you will buy a number of organic fruits, you can also visit shopping malls which will enable you understand how the locals carry out their daily activities. After the safari, your guide will drop you at the location of your choice in Kampala or at the Entebbe International Airport
