Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Akagera National Park and Ihema Boat Cruise
On day 1 of the 8 Days East African Safari, you will be met by your driver guide at your agreed location in Kigali to transfer to Akagera National Park where you will arrive in time to participate in a short game drive as you make your way to the hotel for lunch. later in the afternoon participate boat cruise on Lake Ihema where you will see game like hippopotamuses, Crocodiles, and many bird species like the endangered shoe bill stork, and African Kingfishers catching their prey from the Lake that live around the lake and the surrounding swamps. Transfer to your pack for dinner and overnight break at Karenge bush camp(budget) Akagera game lodge (mid-range)
Day 2: Birding and an afternoon game drive game drive
On day 2 of the 8 Days East African Safari, after enjoying your morning breakfast, you will enjoy a boat trip along Lake Ihema which will give you the opportunity to get close to the plentiful water birds including numerous African fish eagles, marabou stork, crowned cranes, open-billed storks, cormorants, kingfishers, herons and egrets. If you are lucky, you may even get to see the elusive shoebill stork! During the boat trip along Lake Ihema, you will see game-like hippopotamuses, crocodiles, and elephants quenching their thirst from the river banks. After this, you can embark on the rest of your bird-watching journey at Akagera National Park! Visitors are always impressed by what they find, including a variety of bird species ranging from water, forest, savannah, and migratory species. Many of these birds are endemic to the park, and some are exceptionally rare like the papyrus Gonolek. After your birding experience, you will then participate in a game drive with great anticipation of seeing the different animals like the herbivores, the big five animals in Rwanda which rise early to graze, and predators looking for their early morning kill. After the game drive, return to your lodge for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer back to Kigali
On day 3 of the 8 Days East African Safari, rise up early in the morning have breakfast, enjoy your time at your hotel, and later on you will make your way back to Kigali city where you will be dropped off at a location of your choice and this will mark the end of your safari experience.
Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park
On day 4 of the 8 Days East African Safari, after an early morning breakfast at your hotel, you will then make your way to Bwindi impenetrable national park through the Cyanika border. You will be transferred back to Bwindi impenetrable national park national park, the southwestern part of Uganda it will take you about 9 hours to reach the park. You will have an en-route lunch at Mbarara. Continue with your drive to the park having spectacular views of the farmlands, traditional homesteads, tea plantations, and many more. You will also have stopovers for photography to soak in the beauty of the West. Upon arrival in the park, check into the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 5: Gorilla Trekking in Uganda
On day 5 of the 8 Days East African Safari, have an early morning breakfast at 6:30 am and with packed lunch boxes. You will be picked by your driver guide to transfer you to park headquarters for a briefing about gorillas. After, you will make your way to the habituated gorilla family which you will get to spend an hour with when you get in contact with them. The gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi impenetrable national park will take between 2-7 hours when you get in contact with them take their pictures, and watch their behavioral patterns in the wild. After the safari experience, you will then transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. At Lake Bunyonyi, you will participate in the boat cruise on Uganda’s deepest lake where you can visit Akampene Island which has a unique history, you will watch a number of bird species and if you’re interested you can also go swimming in the Bilharzia free waters. Upon arrival, you will check into your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 6: Fly to Maasai Mara National Reserve
On day 6 of the 8 Days East African Safari, after an early morning breakfast at your hotel, you will make your way to the airstrip where you will connect to your flight to Maasai Mara National Park. on reaching the park, you will participate in a briefing session to understand more about your safari experience in the wild. While driving to the park, you will watch a number of different attractions from the Great Rift Valley where you will also have a stopover to watch a number of different breathtaking views in the wild for an amazing safari experience. Passing through Narok town, you will have the chance to buy a number of souvenirs and later make your way to the park where you will arrive in time for check-in, lunch and after participate in a half-day game drive which will give you access a number of different attractions like the lions, elephants, gazelles, cheetahs, African wild dogs among others. Later head to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 7: Full-day Maasai Mara National Reserve
After an early morning breakfast at your hotel, you will make your way to the park’s plains to participate in a full-day game drive which will give you access to the wildebeest migration which will give you the most rewarding safari experience from a million of wildebeest, you will watch a number of carnivores like the lions, leopards and others catching their prey in the wild. You will also watch other species like; giraffes, olive baboons, warthogs, bat-eared foxes, gray jackals, impala, and hartebeest among others. After the safari experience, you will head back to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 8: Full day Maasai Mara National Reserve and transfer back to Nairobi
After an early morning breakfast at your hotel, you will go n to make your way to the park’s plains where you will get the chance to participate in another day exploring the plains of Maasai Mara National Park. It should be noted that the park is quite big and there’s more to discover on your safari experience so expect to watch more species that you might have missed out on a day before. After the safari experience, you will be dropped off at a location of your choice in Nairobi city which will mark the end of your 8 Days East African Safari.
